THE POSITION
This growing, 30+ year old company has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join their team and manage crews and projects, bid jobs and coordinate with engineers in the design of water wells. This role also involves lead generation, prospecting, customer relationship building, and technical project management as the direct liaison to the clients. This leader must operate as the “Owner” of the production side of the business.
While this role will be based out their St. Louis area office, this role is focused on serving the high growth market in Central Illinois. Customers within this regional area are currently supported by two crews operating from our Springfield, Illinois location. This Springfield/Peoria market offers a lot of potential for growth, and we envision the right person building up enough work for three to four crews.
Key Responsibilities
◾ Oversees the scheduling of crews and progress of active projects.
◾ Builds relationships with existing and prospective customers through scheduled and impromptu visits.
◾ Manages project budgets and the development of detailed project instructions (scope, man-hour estimates, etc.).
◾ Develops, coordinates and reviews proposal/bid documents, and prepares reports.
◾ Coordinates and manages field personnel / activities and ensures team complies with all health/safety policies and practices.
◾ Communicates with and maintains positive relationships with all support and client entities.
Your Qualifications
◾ Min 2 yr. technical degree; Preferred Bachelor's degree in technical, engineering, or related studies. However, a combination of education and/or relevant and adequately demonstrated experience to perform the position’s duties and responsibilities may be acceptable.
◾ Min 5 years of project management/estimating experience related to engineering, construction, utilities, manufacturing, or in the water/pump industries (preferred).
◾ Critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving skills are required.
◾ Must possess a common understanding of basic mechanical, technical and/or engineering principles.
◾ Ability to apply independent judgment to develop and lead large-sized projects (including defining scope, objectives, and methods).
◾ Effective communication skills, verbal and written to serve as an interface with customers, suppliers, and company employees.
◾ Solid work ethic and the ability to perform complex professional tasks independently with little instruction.
◾ Must be proficient with MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Project, Teams, and Outlook.
◾ Ability to travel 2 days per week to Springfield, IL location.
