Senior Accounting Manager / Controller

HRMC has partnered with a St. Louis based high-growth steel products manufacturer/fabricator in a search for a qualified Accounting Leader/Controller. This is a dynamic and growing people-centric company of over 200 employees with production, warehousing, and distribution operations in several U.S. states. Position Summary 

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Sr. Accounting Manager/Controller will manage the overall activities of the general accounting function. She/He will oversee, implement, and maintain accounting systems, procedures and policies and ensure the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data. This person will act as liaison between the company, government agencies, external services, and CPA auditors in providing required information and ensuring that proper information is maintained.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities   

◼ ­Serve as an internal accounting coach and provide day-to-day guidance and direction (work assignments) to the accounting team.
◼ ­Implementing and/or maintaining generally accepted accounting policies and procedures (GAAP). Collaborate with all business department managers to ensure efficient processes and cost analysis/controls are utilized.
◼ Monitor and review all records (assets, liabilities, and financial transitions), and perform monthly analysis of financial results.
◼ ­Ensure weekly/monthly/quarterly budgeting/forecasting process to identify risks and opportunities.
◼ ­Responsible for all basic accounting procedures; financial statement preparation, month-end closing; journal entries and general ledger maintenance, inventory roll forwards, fixed assets, margin analysis; and supporting schedules for financial statements.
◼ ­Reviewing, analyzing, and reconciling general ledger accounts and investment transactions in conjunction with preparing quarterly reports for management.
◼ Assisting CFO with strategic planning and setup related to company expansion.

Qualifications / Skills 

◼ ­Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Also requiring attention to detail.

◼ ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) experience required, knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or Great Plains a plus.

◼ ­Strong leadership, proven supervisory skills, foster team collaboration, and as appropriate, resolve conflicts.

◼ ­Strong communication skills (written and verbal), and ability to interact effectively with a diverse workforce and at all levels.

◼ ­Skilled in performance management; establish clear goals, reward good performance and hold people accountable.

◼ ­Collaborative interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and respect for diversity.

◼ ­Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines.

◼ ­Comfortable with General Ledger accounting and maintenance.

Proficient in technology/software, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Teams, Word, One Drive, Outlook).

 

Education / Experience

Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, Finance or business-related field preferred. Master’s is desirable, and CPA a plus.

◼ 7 – 10 years progressive accounting experience in private accounting.

◼ Manufacturing experience is preferred.
